Position Overview
We seek a dedicated Sales Representative to collaborate closely with Volvo Penta dealers, independent shops, boat builders, fleet operators, boat yards, and brokers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical knowledge of various engine packages and have keen market insights. Proactive strategies to increase engine sales are crucial.
Essential Functions
- Actively promote engine sales in the assigned territory.
- Establish and maintain relationships with marine end users, fleets, brokers, and OEMs.
- Act as a liaison between the customer and the company to meet customer needs.
- Secure product orders, conduct surveys, study product populations, locate new prospects, and determine the needs of new and existing customers.
- Plan sales calls, make presentations, highlight benefits, and emphasize the advantages of the company’s products and services.
- Assist customers in solving problems and provide technical assistance for new applications.
- Keep customers updated on new developments and product features.
- Actively identify and develop new customer contacts to expand market share.
- Keep informed on new business opportunities, settle complaints, and maintain personal customer relations.
- Assist at exhibits, demonstrations, and meetings.
- Stay familiar with new products developed by the company and competitors, and inform the company of changes affecting performance.
- Ensure customers are updated regarding new product features and developments.
- Maintain a system for keeping literature, brochures, price sheets, etc., neat and current.
- Maintain records of calls, make required reports, work according to plan, follow up on leads, and control travel, telephone, and entertainment expenses.
- Maintain a high degree of sales professionalism through study and attendance at meetings and association activities.
- Follow up to ensure equipment is correctly delivered and meets all sale conditions.
- Maintain a close relationship with Parts Manager, Service Manager, Engineering, and other sales personnel.
- Advise superiors of all changes in territory that can affect company success.

Preferred Education/Experience & Requirements
- Experience with Marine Systems preferred.
- Experience in distribution, industrial, and/or heavy equipment is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- A self-starter who can develop positive business plans.
- Technical support and guidance experience to influence customer solutions.
- Proven background in sales.
- Bonus: Background in engineering and the ability to create overlays.
- Leverage application engineering tools and processes to support field requests for technology solutions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Full-time, 40 hours per week during core hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Occasional evening and weekend work as job duties demand.
Travel
- Frequent vehicle travel within CA, NV, AZ, and UT in a company-provided car.
- Occasional air travel within the US.
Physical Demands
- Sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, walking docks, and climbing in and out of boats.
- Frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift/move more than 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary
$70,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
